Multiple Stars Quietly Gone From AEW In 2026 Roster Shakeup

AEW

AEW is starting 2026 with a leaner roster.

Fightful Select reports that Matt Taven, Mercedes Martinez, and Alex Abrahantes are no longer with the company. It remains unclear whether these departures were due to contract expirations or releases, as AEW has not issued a public statement.

Matt Taven had been a staple of ROH programming as part of The Kingdom since signing in 2022. Mercedes Martinez, a veteran former ROH Women’s Champion, had seen her usage decline over the last year, which aligns with her recent announcement that she intends to retire from full-time competition in 2026. Alex Abrahantes, known for his role as the energetic manager and translator for Penta El Zero Miedo, had quietly disappeared from television in recent months.

These exits open the door for all three to explore the independent circuit or other major promotions.
