Ricochet’s apology for a tweet wishing a fan had multiple sclerosis was not the result of pressure from All Elite Wrestling or Warner Bros. Discovery — it came from his own conscience after a friend stepped in. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio and Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Ricochet was not forced into the apology by anyone in the company.
“What ended up happening was one of his friends called him and said, ‘You really should take the tweet down.’ So he took the tweet down, and upon thinking about it, he then apologised. Nobody forced this apology or anything like that,” Meltzer said. While AEW officials did tell Ricochet afterward that the apology was the right thing to do, Meltzer noted that Ricochet “did not get anything negative from AEW” about the tweet. His partner Samantha Irvin deactivated her account during the fallout due to receiving severe online harassment.
Ricochet Absent From Post-Revolution Dynamite and Collision Tapings
Despite no reported punishment, Ricochet did not appear on the post-Revolution edition of Dynamite and was not part of the Collision Slam Dunk tapings Wednesday night. The original incident drew widespread backlash after Ricochet told a fan who criticized his acting skills that he was glad they had MS. He initially retweeted comments defending his actions before ultimately posting an apology, writing that he had taken his frustrations out on the fan and on others affected by the disease.
