A man once tried to abduct MJF at an AEW pay-per-view — and the story he shared with Adam Friedland is as wild as it sounds. The incident took place at AEW All Out 2019 at Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, at a particularly vulnerable moment for Friedman, whose father had just suffered a heart attack.
A man posing as a pilot approached MJF backstage and told him Tony Khan had arranged a private jet to fly him home to be with his father. The gesture appeared genuine given that MJF had previously flown on a jet with Khan. After tracking Khan down to thank him, the reality quickly became clear. “Tony goes, ‘What the fuck are you talking about?’ ‘The pilot just told me.’ ‘I didn’t fucking book you a jet to go back home tonight,'” MJF recalled. Security was called, the man was asked to produce a pilot’s license, and his response was immediate. “The guy, I shit you not, does this — pats his waist — ‘Ah! I left it at home.'”
MJF Says the Man Admitted He Was Planning to Abduct Him When Asked by Security
When security confronted the man about his intentions, his answer left no ambiguity. “They asked this guy, ‘What were you planning on doing?’ He was honest. He said he was going to fucking abduct me. That’s the craziest fan wanting me dead scenario I’ve ever been in.” MJF added that nobody has ever determined how the man gained backstage access, and that he has no knowledge of what happened to him after being removed from the building.
