Two championship matches have been announced for next week’s NXT. Tatum Paxley will defend the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Lizzie Rain, while Vanity Project will defend the NXT Tag Team Championships against DarkState. Mason Rook makes his in-ring debut teaming with Kam Hendrix against Tony D’Angelo and Myles Borne, and Keanu Carver faces Tate Wilder.
The Paxley vs. Rain match was set up after the two teamed on Tuesday and defeated Nikkita Lyons and Zaria. Backstage afterward, Paxley told Rain she would defend her title against her next week.
All four DarkState members interrupted Vanity Project on Tuesday, with the segment continuing to tease internal dissension. It was announced that Dion Lennox and Shaquon Shugars would team for the title shot, though the two have visibly not been on the same page in recent weeks.
Rook officially signed his NXT contract on Tuesday before D’Angelo interrupted with a promo and was jumped from behind by Hendrix. Rook capitalized by going to the top rope for a huge moonsault, wiping everyone out. Carver vs. Wilder came together after Wilder asked NXT General Manager Robert Stone for another match opportunity following an earlier loss, with Carver walking into Stone’s office at the right moment.
The May 19 NXT lineup features Tony D’Angelo and Myles Borne vs. Mason Rook and Kam Hendrix, Tatum Paxley defending the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Lizzie Rain, Vanity Project defending the NXT Tag Team Championships against DarkState, and Keanu Carver vs. Tate Wilder.
