TNA Wrestling remains unprofitable despite its television deal with AMC Networks, per a report from Cultaholic citing multiple industry sources. AMC pays TNA approximately $10 million per year for the rights to Thursday Night iMPACT!, but production costs for a nationally televised show — including portions airing live — are significant enough to offset that income. With the show averaging around 200,000 viewers, ad revenue is minimal.
The situation draws comparisons to ECW’s deal with TNN in 1999, which gave the promotion a wider platform but ultimately contributed to its financial collapse because the production costs outpaced what the contract returned. Anthem, TNA’s parent company, is also carrying debt that multiple sources have described as a major obstacle to any acquisition interest. Tony Khan has reportedly said he would have no interest in purchasing TNA at the reported asking price of $40 million.
