Mark Briscoe is not waiting for his AEW World Championship match and has challenged MJF for Wednesday’s Dynamite in San Diego after his team defeated Team MJF at Forbidden Door in the Death’s Door steel cage match.
Briscoe pinned Jake Doyle with the Jay Driller following a major turn in the match: Andrade El Idolo turned on MJF and the Don Callis Family, hitting MJF with a spinning backfist and low blowing Doyle to open the door for Briscoe’s pin.
The match was made official. MJF had repeatedly denied Briscoe a title shot before the cage match stipulation was agreed upon: if Team Briscoe won, Briscoe earned a future championship opportunity.
AEW Dynamite from San Diego on Wednesday also features the TBS Championship Survival of the Fittest match, with Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Persephone, Harley Cameron, Queen Aminata, and Maika all competing for the vacant title.
