Nick Aldis will face Gunther at SummerSlam. Triple H confirmed the match at the WWE Kickoff show at Fanatics Fest in New York.
The event opened with Gunther confronting Triple H over Aldis hitting him with a title belt at Saturday Night’s Main Event, which cost Gunther and Sami Zayn their match against Cody Rhodes and CM Punk. Aldis came out to confront Gunther, a brawl broke out, and Triple H then made the match.
“This is the WWE. What do we do? We get in the ring, we settle our differences. So at SummerSlam, it will be the Ring General Gunther versus Nick Aldis. You guys will settle this once and for all at SummerSlam.”
It will be Aldis’ first match since 2023, when he worked an Appalachian Championship Wrestling show in Kentucky. His last televised match was a loss to Eric Young at the July 16, 2023 TV tapings in Windsor.
SummerSlam takes place August 1 and 2, with WWE yet to announce which matches fall on each night. Gunther vs. Aldis joins a card that includes Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Title against Seth Rollins and CM Punk defending the Undisputed WWE Title against Cody Rhodes.
