Kairi Sane has not signed with a new promotion after officially becoming a free agent, according to a Fightful Select report. Sane’s WWE non-compete clause expired at midnight on July 24.
The report says Sane is actively evaluating her future and that there is interest from a number of companies, including for non-contract appearances. She was not backstage at AEW’s Redemption or at Marigold over the weekend. Sane is represented by agent Barry Bloom.
Sane was released by WWE in April following WrestleMania 42, part of a round of roughly 30 releases. Reports at the time claimed a motivating factor was that Sane had indicated she wanted to move back to Japan. Her release drew a backlash from fans, with a hashtag trending and pro-Sane chants during Asuka and IYO SKY segments, but WWE did not reverse course.
Across two WWE runs, Sane was a one-time NXT Women’s Champion, the 2017 Mae Young Classic winner, and a three-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion with Asuka as the Kabuki Warriors.
