On the latest episode of My World, Jeff Jarrett discussed Oba Femi’s win over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam and what the young star still needs to become a true main-event draw. You can check out his comments below:
On Femi’s push being a step, not a finished product:
“I don’t think a baby step, and I’m not going to jump out and say he’s ready, he’s over, he’s going to move the needle, because how long was Goldberg’s undefeated streak? It just takes time. But this certainly is going to help. I mean, Brock is Brock. He’s been on the scene six months as far as this real hard push.”
On what Punk and Cody have that Femi still needs:
“I go back to, put the promoter cap on, the ticket sellers, the ticket movers. Punk, Cody, what do they really have in common? A lot. Maybe in personal life they don’t, but they can both talk them into the building. Oba’s promo takes time. Not just his promo, his personality. His ability to tell a story in two to three minutes or a five minute in-ring, that’s where the money drawing set of circumstances come in.”
On the ability to communicate being the big question mark:
“You take an MJF, young guy, cocky, makes mistakes, does this and does that. He can talk his ass off. You have to have the ability to communicate, and I think right now they have it. That is the glaring unknown, big question mark. So the people will not vote on Oba based solely off of, oh man, he beat Brock two out of three times. They’ve got to get him some mic time and they’ve got to develop a personality.”
On what he’d tell Femi to prioritize:
“If I’m him, I’m working on that as much as I do going to the gym and keeping your body. I would be developing a personality off camera as much as possible.”
