Jeff Jarrett said the weekend argument over Avery Styles and paying dues will pass quickly, and that the person it hurts is the one who never posted.
The 19-year-old son of AJ Styles was praised on social media by Natalya after a GCW appearance. Independent wrestler and promoter Eric Cannon responded that Styles avoided helping with anything at the show, AJ Styles fired back at Cannon, and Lexis King posted about his own experience as a second generation talent on the independents.
On My World with Jeff Jarrett, Jarrett put it in terms he has lived.
“AJ, Lexi, myself, any second generation, any third generation, will always be viewed, judged, silver spoon, everything too easy. Always go back to Cornette’s line. It’s either the greatest blessing or the greatest curse. It’s up to you how you’re going to respond to it.”
Jarrett questioned whether Styles was ever asked to help with the ring, and said the answer changes everything. He addressed AJ directly.
“I respect you. The father came out in you,” Jarrett said, before adding that responding did not help. “The backlash, no matter how you slice it, dice it, falls on Avery. Daddy’s taken up for his kid, and if you want your kid to truly stand on their own two feet, push him out of the nest and let him fly.”
“Eric won out of the weekend. Avery lost on this argument, even though Avery’s, I kind of think, an innocent bystander.”
