Pat McAfee said he is keeping the promise he made before WrestleMania 42 and will not appear on WWE television again.
McAfee was part of the storyline between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton heading into the show, siding with Orton while his character ran down WWE’s product, wrestlers, and fans. He declared before the event that he would leave the wrestling business if Orton lost. Orton lost.
Asked on his Instagram Stories whether a WWE return could still happen, McAfee closed the door.
“If Randy had won, maybe, but I made a promise that I would never, ever. I would never be seen on WWE television ever again. Cody Rhodes won. He is the one. Wow, what a donkey he turned out to be. Maybe I was wrong with what I was saying. But no, wrestling fans can sleep soundly understanding that I will never be back over there.”
McAfee joins ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown team for the upcoming NFL season.
