On the latest episode of My World, a listener asked Jeff Jarrett what moment he’d redo if he could travel back in time — and Jarrett laid out, beat by beat, the finish he wishes he’d called on the fly instead of walking out on the WWF. You can check out his comments below:
On the scenario he’s played out in his head:
“I’ve talked about it and had different conversations, and I’ve done a lot of work on myself. Conrad, can you imagine this scenario? All kidding aside — I go out there, me and Shawn tear the house down, lay down, do the one-two-three. Road Dogg gets the win over me. We’re supposed to get up and argue. We’re supposed to come to blows, all that kind of stuff.”
On what he wishes he’d done instead:
“What if I would have super-sold the superkick and done everything possible? Brian comes over to me. He leans over me in real life and says, forget it, I’m with you, dude, let’s get the hell out of here. If I would have said — hold up, Brian. Let’s do this. I want you to help me to my feet. I’m going to kind of stagger up, and when I get to my feet, grab my wrist and start to raise my hand. And as you throw it up, I throw it back down, and we almost come to blows. But then we look at each other, and I grab your hand, raise your hand, we hug and embrace and walk out of the ring.”
On what he’d have done next:
“And walk straight to Gorilla and say, Vince, when the show’s over, can we sit down and talk? My point being — Vince, we’re going to hang around to the end of the show. Can we have a conversation? My career would have changed so much.”
On why he thinks it would have worked:
“Think of how that would have changed. Now, he’d have been pissed off. But we’re going to Louisville to do Raw the next day, and so we stay. We might have still done the angle, probably, but maybe he would have had a little bit — and you’ve got Bruce in the car and Pat in the car, and Bruce would be stewing around on ideas and saying, hey, okay, well, what if we did this? You would have come to a compromise. I think — yes. Short answer is yes.”
