On the latest episode of My World, Jeff Jarrett responded to a listener question about WWE effectively running two world championships, and to the recurring criticism that AEW carries too many belts. You can check out his comments below:
On the belts debate generally:
“Here we go. The belts — oh, they’re just props. That’s one argument. The other side is, yeah, but if they’re props, they are the props. Oh, there’s too many belts. Well, how many shows do you have? It is subjective. It’s all subjective.”
On WWE’s two world titles:
“One is on one program, one is on another program. And so in story writing, you have the way they do it — obviously a Raw writing room and a SmackDown writing room. At AEW it’s really all under one roof. Dynamite and Collision, one bleeds into the other.”
On the case for doing it differently:
“I know Tony likes to call AEW the challenger brand. I’m of which — that’s cool. I also think that maybe a subset of that, or said behind the scenes, is the alternative. It is different than. So I think not mirroring WWE — I think there’s a lot of upside.”
On what he thinks the real question is:
“I hear you loud and clear. The only thing I think you’re probably subconsciously feeling would be Raw and SmackDown. Is it, which one’s the B show? That’s where I was going with it. I think that is the underbelly of what you’re saying.”
