Will Ospreay Did Right By Swerve Strickland With Forbidden Door Behind The Scenes Push

AEW

The AEW World Heavyweight Champion Swerve Strickland faced off against Will Ospreay at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door 2024 pay-per-view event on Sunday night at the UBS Arena in Elmont, NY. The match was a classic showdown between the two talented wrestlers.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, Ospreay, who has a complex relationship with Swerve, was determined to prove that Swerve’s title reign was not just a “placeholder” for him to win the title at All In. Ospreay approached AEW management with the idea of putting over Strickland to show that everyone should be willing to lose to the World Champion for the greater good of the company.

This decision was seen as a way to demonstrate that success in AEW required a team effort and that individual egos should not get in the way of the company’s goals. Ospreay’s willingness to support his colleagues and his commitment to the promotion’s success have been commended by those within the company.
