AEW Star Explains Why They Signed With The Company Over WWE

After making a name for himself in DDP, Konosuke Takeshita got the attention of AEW and WWE.

He started working shows for AEW beginining in 2021. He signed with AEW in November 2022 and is currently managed by Don Callis.

While speaking with NJPW’s website, he explained why he signed with AEW over WWE.

“It’s still a short list of Japanese wrestlers who break big in America, and at the time there weren’t really any Japanese males in AEW. You have Shinsuke Nakamura in WWE, and Asuka and Io Shirai in their women’s division, but there was a chance to go down a road nobody had ever taken in AEW and that’s what I did.”
