Matt Hardy will make his GCW debut at GCW Now and Forever on August 2nd. His opponent wasn’t named.
On the latest episode of the “Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, the TNA star talked about how the appearance came about.
“An opportunity came up. It’s funny, the promoter from GCW actually reached out to me the day before I was going to debut at [TNA] Rebellion. He said, ‘Hey, are you interested in coming to LA tomorrow?’ There’s a couple guys that has talked to me about doing some stuff there, and there’d been some interest. I’d spoken with Brett Lauderdale a couple times. I said, ‘No, I’m booked already tomorrow.’ That’s kind of where I left the conversation at. He said, ‘I’ll be in touch if some other stuff comes up.’ Then a couple ideas started happening, and they are churning. This is more than just one appearance for me in GCW, so we’re gonna do a multi-show deal, and it’s gonna be exciting. I think it’s really exciting that they announced it, that Matt Hardy’s gonna be there, and I think once you find out who I’m wrestling, people are gonna go even more nuts, and it’s gonna lead to some other stuff. I think it’s gonna be really cool, I’m very much looking forward to it. I was pretty pumped about now positive the feedback was. Seems like it’s gonna be win-win so far,” Hardy said.
