As previously noted, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix have attracted interest from WWE as their current contracts expire. Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline has reported that AEW believes the Lucha Bros will depart for WWE once their AEW agreements no longer bind them.
This follows an initial WrestlePurists report that the duo is expected to leave. This prompts AEW to alter its original plans for the Trios Championship match scheduled for All In later this month. Bodyslam.net had earlier reported that Penta’s contract expires this year.
According to a recent report from Fightful Select, Penta’s contract will expire first, with Fenix’s set to conclude around September. Although AEW is keen to retain both talents, negotiations have faced delays. AEW may not finalize a deal, as the tag team appears disinclined to re-sign.
Sources speaking to Fightful believe that the Lucha Bros prefer to remain a package deal and are not interested in joining NXT. One insider close to the pair mentioned that it would not be surprising to see them in Orlando, preparing for a potential move in the near future.
Additionally, multiple sources close to the tag team have reported that they have been candid about engaging in discussions with WWE and that a preliminary offer comparable to what AEW has proposed has been made.
