A24 released The Iron Claw, a film that tells the story of the Von Erich family’s rise and fall, this past December.
Zac Efron plays the role of Kevin Von Erich, Jeremy Allen White plays Kerry, Harris Dickinson plays David, Holt McCallany plays Fritz Von Erich, and Maura Tierney portrays Doris Von Erich. The rest of the cast includes Aaron Dean Eisenberg as Ric Flair, AEW’s MJF as Lance Von Erich, and Kevin Anton as Harley Race.
The movie, written and directed by Sean Durkin, was co-financed by A24 and Access Industries.
On the latest episode of the “WHW” podcast, Tony Schiavone discussed the film.
“I liked it. A couple of things I didn’t like, I think most of us did not like who portrayed Ric Flair and I don’t know if there is an actor out there who would’ve really captured Ric Flair.”
“Even though The Bear may be one of my favorite shows of all time, I [don’t think Jeremy Allen White] did a good Kerry Von Erich. Yeah. He’s a good actor, but Kerry to me, he was just a bit more muscular guy. He just didn’t look physically to me like Kerry Von Erich. Yes, absolutely. Hell, the kid has won an Emmy for The Bear.”
