Awesome Kong: ‘AEW Paid Me Way Longer Than I Thought They Would’

Speaking on Victoire, Awesome Kong was asked about her time in AEW.

Kong was with AEW when it launched before AEW opted not to renew her contract on June 1, 2021.

“I had just started out with AEW almost like a year before the pandemic, at the beginning of 2019. Whenever AEW started, I was there, and then in the middle…I had to leave for a little bit to go shoot GLOW, and then while we were shooting GLOW, the pandemic happened, and because of certain ailments that I have, I could not travel, and god bless them, AEW paid me way longer than I thought they would or should, and we just parted ways because I couldn’t come back, and why keep paying someone? We parted amicably, seriously. They paid me way longer than I would’ve paid somebody who’s not coming in for a job. I’m just saying, so yeah,” Kong said.
