Tony Khan: It Could Be Several Months Before AEW PPVs Air On MAX

AEW WBD

The new multi-year rights deal with AEW and Warner Bros. Discovery was made official a few months ago.

Under the new deal, AEW shows “Dynamite” and “Collision” will remain on TBS and TNT respectively. But for the first time since its launch in 2019, AEW programming will stream live on Max simultaneously for U.S. subscribers and will be available to stream on-demand starting in January 2025.

Tony Khan spoke with the media ahead of AEW Full Gear and was asked when PPVs will make it to HBO Max and how much they might cost.

“It’s too soon for me to give an update on that. A lot of it is in the hands of our amazing media partners, to whom we are very grateful, at Warner Brothers Discovery. We have a great relationship with them. It’s a blessing to bring pro wrestling back to TBS and TNT. Now to launch pro wrestling for the first time ever on Max. I’m really excited about it, and I know the simulcast of Dynamite and Collision is something fans can look forward to as we kick off 2025.” Tony Khan said.

“The pay-per-view delivery on Max will require significant upgrades and technical work on the back end. I don’t want to put a date out there that I’m not sure about. There’s a lot of work to be done by the Max engineering team to provide that capability for pay-per-views.”
