Chris Jericho Showed Up At GCW Event

AEW

On Saturday night, Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance at GCW’s Highest in the Room 3 event, where he attacked Matt Cardona and EFFY during their match. As the match unfolded, a hooded figure entered the ring and attacked Cardona with a baseball bat, leading to EFFY pinning Cardona for the win.

However, the mystery man then turned on EFFY, revealing himself as Jericho, who was wearing an AEW shirt. This angle was likely designed to further fuel the ongoing feud between Jericho and Cardona, which is set to culminate in a match for the ROH World Heavyweight Title at Final Battle this Friday.

This segment also had some backstage context. EFFY was stepping in for AEW’s Ricky Starks, who had originally been scheduled to face Cardona but was pulled from the match. The decision to pull Starks came after controversial comments made by EFFY regarding AEW and Tony Khan’s father, which led to some tensions.
