AEW Files For A New Trademark

AEW star Buddy Matthews has taken steps to secure the trademark for “Hounds of Hell”, hinting at a new direction for his current faction in AEW. The application was filed on January 17th with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) through noted wrestling trademark attorney Michael E. Dockins. This move comes amid speculation that Matthews, along with Brody King and Julia Hart, may rebrand following reports of Malakai Black’s departure from AEW.

The “Hounds of Hell” trademark covers a wide range of services, including:

  • Advertising Services: Promoting goods and services through fairs, commercial purposes, and a searchable vendor website.
  • Entertainment Services: Focused on professional wrestling performances and appearances by Buddy Matthews and potential faction members.

Separately, Brody King also filed a similar trademark earlier this week, specifically for merchandise purposes, further solidifying the likelihood that “Hounds of Hell” is the new faction name for the group.
