AEW Star Reportedly Frustrated With Her Booking

Deonna Purrazzo, a high-profile AEW signing in 2024, has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with how she’s been utilized in the company. According to Fightful Select, Purrazzo has been vocal with AEW management about wanting better opportunities, particularly during major events like Full Gear, which took place in her hometown.

Deonna Purrazzo’s AEW Run So Far

After making a name for herself in TNA/IMPACT Wrestling, AAA, and ROH, Purrazzo was brought into AEW with high expectations. Her technical prowess and championship pedigree gave fans hope that she would become a central figure in AEW’s women’s division.

Key Moments in AEW:

  1. Feuds with Top Stars:
    • Purrazzo has faced prominent names like Toni Storm, Hikaru Shida, and rising star Mariah May, showcasing her abilities in high-profile matches.
    • Her feud with Shida in particular was praised for its competitive nature, though it didn’t lead to a sustained push.
  2. Formation of “The Vendetta”:
    • In late 2024, Purrazzo aligned with Taya Valkyrie to form a faction called The Vendetta. While the group had potential to shake up the women’s division, their presence on AEW programming has been sporadic.
  3. Putting Over Toni Storm:
    • Purrazzo’s most recent match took place on January 4th’s episode of Collision, where she put over Toni Storm. While the match received positive reviews, it left fans questioning her role in the company, as she hasn’t wrestled since.

Reported Frustrations

According to Fightful Select, Purrazzo has voiced her concerns about her lack of consistent booking and direction in AEW. Despite being featured in notable matches, she has struggled to gain significant momentum in the division.

  • Full Gear Frustration:
Purrazzo was particularly vocal about wanting to be featured at Full Gear 2024, which was held in her hometown. However, her role at the event was minimal, further fueling her frustration.
  • Infrequent Matches:
While Purrazzo has been active in AEW, her matches have been infrequent compared to other top stars in the division, making it difficult for her to build long-term storylines.

What’s Next for Deonna Purrazzo?

It’s currently unclear when Purrazzo will wrestle again, though fans are hoping she’ll return to AEW programming soon with a meaningful storyline. Several possibilities exist for her future:

  1. Renewed Push with The Vendetta:
AEW could refocus on Purrazzo’s alliance with Taya Valkyrie, using the faction to disrupt the women’s division and give both women consistent screen time.
  2. Title Opportunity:
Purrazzo is a former multi-time champion and would be a credible challenger for the AEW Women’s World Championship or the TBS Championship. A feud with the current champion—whether it’s Toni Storm, Kris Statlander, or another top star—could elevate her back into the spotlight.
  3. Exit from AEW:
If AEW cannot address her frustrations, Purrazzo may consider leaving the company once her contract expires. Given her success outside of AEW, she could thrive in other promotions, including a potential return to WWE, where Triple H’s creative vision might offer her a fresh start.
