Quincy brands as the Quincy Doggy Paddlers starting with the 2025 Prospect League season!
Quincy, Ill. – The Quincy Baseball Club is excited to announce that the new name of the Quincy, Illinois Prospect League team will be the Quincy Doggy Paddlers. After receiving over 1,000 name submissions from the community over the past four months, the Quincy Baseball Club has chosen this fun and unique name that reflects the community’s input.
The team’s inaugural season will officially begin with Opening Night on Wednesday, May 28th, at QU Stadium. Fans can expect an exciting season of high-quality baseball, family-friendly entertainment, and plenty of special events celebrating the new team identity.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Quincy Doggy Paddlers as the new name for our team,” said Doggy Paddlers Co-Owner Tim Hoker. “The name represents both our city’s enthusiasm for baseball and our commitment to usher in a new era of fun sports entertainment in 2025.
“It’s a perfect blend of spirit and fun, and we can’t wait for fans to join us for Opening Night and throughout the entire inaugural season,” said Doggy Paddlers General Manager Brendan Saak.
Over the past several months, the Quincy Baseball Club reached out to local residents, fans, and supporters to submit their ideas for the team name. With a diverse range of creative entries, the name “Doggy Paddlers” came together due to its charm, creativity, and tie to local significance including the Mighty Mississippi River, German Heritage, strong hunting interest, and deep connection to being the Gem City.
The Quincy Baseball Club also teased that fans can look forward to special events and promotions throughout the season featuring dog-friendly activities, giveaways, and exciting contests. The team mascot, “Barkley the Paddler,” will also make appearances at events and games, adding to the fun atmosphere.
