TNA Wrestling has reportedly instituted a significant policy change regarding the use of blood in its matches and programming. According to a report from Mike Johnson at PWInsider, cited by Fightful, “Excessive blood and blading will not be permissible by the promotion” going forward.
The report stated that the TNA locker room was informed about this new edict on Friday, May 2nd. The policy clarifies that while accidental blood – such as bleeding resulting from hardway contact, a bloody nose, or mouth – is understood as an occasional consequence of physical wrestling, the practice of intentional blading or creating scenarios designed for heavy blood loss is now prohibited.
The decision to implement this change was reportedly driven by two main factors: prioritizing the “health of the performers” and being mindful of “current and potential partners and advertisers.”
Fightful also noted that a Dog Collar match between Steve Maclin and Eric Young, which was recently taped and features significant blood, is still expected to air. However, this match will essentially represent the final instance of such planned, heavy bleeding under the promotion’s previous standards before the new policy takes full effect. This marks a notable shift in presentation for TNA Wrestling.
