NJPW Resurgence Results (5/9/25): New Champions Crowned, Good Brothers Return

New Japan Pro-Wrestling presented its Resurgence event on May 9, 2025, from the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California, featuring major championship matches and significant returns. The show delivered several key outcomes that will shape NJPW and its STRONG brand moving forward.

In a major title change, AZM defeated Mercedes Moné and Mina Shirakawa in a three-way match to become the new NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion. Additionally, new NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Champions were crowned as Templario & TJP defeated Royce Isaacs & Jorel Nelson.

The IWGP World Heavyweight Championship was successfully defended by Hirooki Goto, who turned back the challenge of Zack Sabre Jr. In other title action, Konosuke Takeshita retained his NEVER Openweight Championship against El Phantasmo, and Tomohiro Ishii held onto his Strong Openweight Championship against Drilla Moloney.

The night also saw the NJPW return of The Good Brothers (Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson). They reunited with The Young Bucks to defeat Bullet Club War Dogs (Gabe Kidd, David Finlay, Clark Connors & Gedo) in an eight-man tag team match. In another featured bout, Fred Rosser defeated Matt Vandagriff. The pre-show saw Allan Breeze defeat CJ Tino.
