AEW star Kyle Fletcher says the promotion’s recent trend of holding TV tapings in smaller, unique venues has “reignited a lot of people’s passion backstage.” Speaking to Q101’s Case Lowe, Fletcher discussed AEW’s upcoming six-show July residency at Chicago’s Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom.
He emphasized the unique atmosphere these intimate settings create. “Obviously with wrestling, the crowd makes it… I think these venues, it’s really reignited a lot of people’s passion backstage,” Fletcher said. “When you have these weird, wacky balconies up here and theaters, it really brings out a different feeling… That atmosphere, you can’t replicate it.”
Fletcher noted the roster’s excitement: “Everyone is just so excited to get out there… bringing that intimate atmosphere, it makes the experience better for everybody.”
This Chicago residency (three Dynamites, three Collisions) follows AEW announcing a similar seven-show run in Philadelphia’s former ECW Arena for August-September. Tonight, AEW hosts Dynamite: Beach Break at Chicago’s NOW Arena.
