AEW star Willow Nightingale has named recently released WWE talent Dakota Kai as someone she would love to face in the squared circle. Kai, who wrestled for years as Evie on the independent circuit before joining WWE, was part of the WWE talent releases in May 2025.
Speaking with Gabby LaSpisa on the Gabby AF podcast, Nightingale expressed her long-time admiration for Kai. “I was a big fan of a wrestler who went by the name of Evie for years and years and years, and I believe some people might know her now by the name of [Dakota Kai],” Nightingale said. “I know Team Kick with Evie, and I never had the opportunity to wrestle her because she was off somewhere else before I had the opportunity to get to SHIMMER.”
With Kai now a free agent, Nightingale is hopeful for a future match. “I’m rooting for her to land on her feet wherever she goes… The fangirl inside of me is ‘Ooh, that would be fun!'” Dakota Kai had a decorated run in WWE, including multiple reigns as both NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion.
