Jeff Hardy Blames “Personal Problems” For Unsuccessful AEW Stint

In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Matt and Jeff Hardy reflected on their latest run in AEW. Jeff Hardy took responsibility for why their time in the company didn’t meet expectations.

“My personal problems. Getting in trouble with the law,” Jeff said when asked what went wrong. “I think I never got a fair chance to redeem myself. Coming back, at least that’s how I felt. I totally understood why they didn’t want to give me that chance. They probably can’t trust me. I’m just a liability… I just don’t think we ever had a fair chance because of that. I blame myself all the time.”

Matt Hardy added that while he felt Jeff proved himself upon his return, he was disappointed that a storyline involving himself, Jeff, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage never materialized. “Tony Khan is a great guy. Paid me very well. I like him,” Matt said. “He has his style and choice of wrestling that he likes to see and I don’t know if all of us factored in.”

The Hardys have since returned to TNA Wrestling and are scheduled to compete in a four-way Ladder Match for the TNA World Tag Team Championships at the Slammiversary pay-per-view on July 20.
