Athena Retains ROH Women’s World Title Over Thunder Rosa At Supercard Of Honor

AEW

Athena’s dominant reign as ROH Women’s World Champion continues. At the Ring of Honor Supercard of Honor event on Friday, July 11, Athena defeated Thunder Rosa by submission to retain her championship in the semi-main event.

The match centered on the previously injured shoulder of Thunder Rosa. Despite being put through a table during the bout, Rosa urged the referee not to stop the match and continued to fight.

Ultimately, the injury was her undoing. Athena was able to lock in a modified submission that put pressure on Rosa’s shoulder, neck, and lower back, forcing the challenger to tap out. The victory marks Athena’s 29th successful defense of the title, extending her historic reign to over 945 days.
