Former WCW star Buff Bagwell recently opened up about the incredible challenges he has faced in recent years, including a leg amputation, his difficult journey with sobriety, and the profound impact his newfound Christian faith has had on his life. Buff Bagwell on His Sobriety Journey and The Role of Faith

Speaking on a recent episode of Busted Open Radio, Buff Bagwell was asked about his well-documented struggles with addiction and his journey to sobriety. He was quick to credit the power of his faith as the number one reason for his successful recovery.

“I have now got a relationship with Jesus Christ, my lord and savior…I’m a Christian. I am saved,” Bagwell said. “I believe I am in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I believe I’m going to Heaven. I’m a Christian through and through, but I was a Christian with Somas and pills and beers and trying to be a Christian, and these last three years I’ve truly had a relationship with Jesus Christ, and that is number one.”

He also gave a great deal of credit to his longtime friend and fellow wrestler, DDP, whose positivity and support were instrumental in the beginning of his journey.

The Power of DDP

The wrestling world is full of stories about Diamond Dallas Page helping his fellow wrestlers overcome their personal demons through his DDPY program and his unwavering positivity. Buff Bagwell is one of the most prominent success stories. He acknowledged that DDP’s influence played a “major part” in getting him on the right path.

“[Diamond Dallas Page’s positivity] definitely played a major part. This whole journey with sobriety…started with Page. It was more God,” he explained.

Bagwell moved in with DDP to focus on his recovery, a process that was documented and shared with the world, inspiring many with its honesty and vulnerability.

Overcoming Adversity

Buff Bagwell’s journey has been anything but easy. In addition to his long battle with addiction, he recently had to have his leg amputated due to severe complications from a past injury. Through it all, he has maintained a positive outlook, which he attributes to the strength he draws from his faith. His story is a powerful testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the possibility of finding hope and redemption even in the darkest of times. He has become an inspiration for many, both inside and outside the wrestling world, who are facing their own battles.

Today, Buff Bagwell is using his platform to share his story and spread a message of hope.
