Tony Khan Reveals “Fairway to Hell” Dynamite Concept

AEW President Tony Khan has an interesting and unique idea for a future themed event that would combine the worlds of professional wrestling and golf for a good cause. In a new interview, Khan revealed that he has long had the idea of hosting a charity golf tournament called “Fairway to Heaven,” which would be followed by a special themed episode of AEW Dynamite called “Fairway to Hell.”

Tony Khan Breaks Down His “Fairway to Heaven/Fairway to Hell” Idea

Speaking on Barstool Sports’ My Mom’s Basement podcast with Robbie Fox, Tony Khan detailed his concept for a two-day crossover event. The idea stems from a trademark that AEW filed for the term “Fairway to Hell” back in June 2024 for merchandising and golf tournament purposes, a move that left many fans speculating. Khan has now revealed the full scope of his vision.

“I want to do a charity golf tournament called ‘Fairway to Heaven.’ And then have wrestlers and golfers and people participate for charity at Fairway to Heaven,” Khan explained. “Have the charity golf tournament on Tuesday and then do Dynamite in the same city or same location/region on Wednesday — ‘Fairway to Hell.’ Fairway to Heaven, Fairway to Hell, it would be great right? And I think it’d be awesome.”

A Crossover for a Cause

The primary goal of the two-day event, according to Khan, would be to raise money for charity. However, he also believes that it would be a fantastic way to create a crossover between two passionate fanbases and potentially bring new eyes to both sports.

“I really want to do something that I think would be for a great cause… and it would be great for wrestling and it would be great for wrestling fans,” Khan said. “Hopefully it could bring some new fans to golf and some new fans to wrestling, because I think there’s more of a crossover than people would realize between the sports.”

The event would feature AEW wrestlers teaming up with professional golfers and other celebrities, creating unique pairings and a fun, relaxed atmosphere for a good cause before the high-stakes, intense action of the “Fairway to Hell” Dynamite the following night.

AEW’s History of Themed Shows

The “Fairway to Hell” concept would fit perfectly into AEW’s established strategy of presenting special, themed episodes of its weekly television shows. Since the company’s inception, AEW has successfully created a number of annual, must-see TV events that have the feel of a mini pay-per-view. Shows like Winter is Coming, Blood & Guts, Grand Slam at Arthur Ashe Stadium, and Big Business have become signature events on the AEW calendar, often featuring major title changes, debuts, and significant storyline developments. A “Fairway to Hell” episode of Dynamite, with its unique branding and crossover appeal, would be a natural and creative addition to that lineup. While it remains to be seen if or when the inaugural “Fairway to Heaven/Fairway to Hell” event will take place, it is a clear example of Tony Khan’s creative and ambitious approach to promoting All Elite Wrestling.
