Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio has provided some insight into the booking decision to have Adam Copeland and Christian Cage’s first tag team match together at Forbidden Door, rather than saving it for All Out in their hometown of Toronto.
“I guess the idea was they could do the first match and give them a win because it may be a championship match. So then you cannot complain that they haven’t even gotten a win and they’re getting a championship match. So they are getting a win so that may be a championship match. It may not be, but I can tell you for sure the original plan was for them to get a win to build to a championship match.”
The report added that while original plans may have called for Copeland and Cage to challenge FTR for the tag team championships at All Out, the current champions, The Hurt Syndicate, have reportedly been resistant behind the scenes to dropping the championships to FTR.
