A new report from Bodyslam.net, later confirmed by Fightful, states that Swerve Strickland is scheduled to undergo surgery this Wednesday, August 27, to repair a torn meniscus. He is expected to miss considerable time in the ring to recover.
The report notes that Strickland has been dealing with the injury since 2019 and that the plan was for him to take time off after his AEW Unified Championship match against Kazuchika Okada at Forbidden Door. The post-match angle, where Okada attacked Swerve’s knee with a chair, was a storyline reason to write him off television for the surgery.
