AEW commentator Taz took to social media on Thursday to share his feelings about being surprised with an induction into the 2300 Arena’s Hardcore Hall of Fame. The announcement was made by AEW President Tony Khan in the ring after the August 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, which took place at the iconic Philadelphia venue, formerly known as the ECW Arena. The moment was a complete surprise for the ECW legend, who was a cornerstone of that promotion during its heyday in the 1990s.
In his post, the former ECW World Heavyweight Champion expressed his gratitude to Tony Khan, AEW, the roster, and the fans for the emotional tribute, which also included his wife and son, HOOK, being present in the ring.
“I was completely blindsided & extremely surprised after this acknowledgment for me in Philadelphia last night at 2300 Arena. THANK YOU @TonyKhan & @aew production, all the talent on the roster for taking the time to acknowledge my contributions to the industry, all the fans & that you made sure my wife and son was there right next to me last night durning it! Words cannot describe what this meant to me …thank you. Very much appreciated!”
The official ceremony and the raising of Taz’s Hardcore Hall of Fame banner is scheduled to take place on the August 30 episode of AEW Collision, which will also be held at the 2300 Arena.
