The viewership numbers have been released for the Wednesday, August 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, which served as the fallout show from the Forbidden Door pay-per-view. The episode averaged 585,000 viewers on TBS, which is a slight increase of 3.5 percent from the previous week’s audience. However, this is still the second-lowest viewership total for the program since July 2 of this year. The show’s audience has seen a noticeable dip over the past several weeks, with this week continuing that trend despite the post-pay-per-view buzz.
In the key 18-49 demographic, the news was less positive. Dynamite drew a 0.13 rating, which represents an 18.8 percent decrease from the previous week. This number ties the lowest rating the show has ever recorded on a Wednesday night in its history. Dynamite ranked fourth on cable for the night in the key demographic, falling behind coverage of the US Open tennis tournament on ESPN and programming on Fox News. The competition from live sports continues to be a factor in Dynamite’s ratings performance.
Compared to the same week in 2024, the show’s overall viewership was down 16.1 percent, and the key demographic rating was down a significant 43.5 percent. It is important to note that the viewership numbers for this year do not include the additional audience watching the simulcast on the Max streaming service. The show was down from its recent 10-week averages in both total viewership and the key demographic, indicating a continued downward trend for the program’s television audience on TBS.
