Darby Allin To Build Skatepark

AEW star Darby Allin has announced a new mission outside of the wrestling ring: building a public skatepark in his adopted hometown of McDonough, Georgia. The announcement was made in a video segment that aired on the August 30 episode of AEW Collision. In the video, Allin, an avid skateboarder, spoke about his new goal after having successfully climbed Mount Everest earlier this year.

The project is sponsored by The Skatepark Project, the renowned charity founded by skateboarding legend Tony Hawk. A fundraising page has been launched where fans can donate to help bring the project to life. According to the fundraiser’s website, the plan to build three new skateparks in Henry County, including Allin’s, was approved by local leaders back in February. Allin’s park will be a significant addition to the community, repurposing a 37,500-square-foot former covered arena located at Heritage Park.

This personal project comes as Allin’s on-screen character has also found a new sense of purpose. He made his return to AEW television at the All In pay-per-view, where he helped “Hangman” Adam Page win the AEW World Championship. Since then, he has been focused on getting a singles match with Jon Moxley, the man who put him out of action late last year. The new skatepark initiative showcases another side of Allin’s persona, using his platform to give back to the community that he has called home since 2017.
