WWE Hall of Famer and AEW commentator Jim Ross recently shared his thoughts on the ongoing speculation about Chris Jericho’s future, stating that he hopes the inaugural AEW World Champion will remain with the company. The rumors surrounding Jericho’s contract status have been a major topic of conversation in the wrestling world, with many believing he could be headed back to WWE when his current AEW deal expires at the end of this year. Jericho has been a foundational piece of All Elite Wrestling since its inception, and his potential departure would be a significant blow to the promotion.
Speaking on his “Grilling JR” podcast, Ross discussed Jericho’s immense value to AEW, not just as an in-ring performer but as a creative mind and a mentor to younger talent. He acknowledged that the decision will ultimately come down to creative satisfaction and what Jericho feels is best for his legacy.
“I really wanna believe he’s returning to AEW. He’s a really important piece of the puzzle. He’s good with ideas, he’s good at helping talents, and he can still work. With all his experience, he’s got great name identity, you can’t just replicate that overnight. So I’d like to think he’s gonna stick with us in AEW. But who knows. He’s very particular about his creative, and I think that’s something that tells me he still loves the business. He’s smart, he has a lot of ideas. I hope that he sticks with AEW. It’s gonna depend a lot on the creative and what he expects from the company, and how the company can help him continue to build his legacy. It’d be a loss for AEW if Jericho decided to depart in my opinion. He’s just that valuable.”
d can look forward to hearing his signature calls as some of the best wrestlers from AEW and New Japan Pro-Wrestling collide.
