Josh Alexander of the Don Callis Family is set for a massive eight-man tag team match on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, but he has his sights set on an even bigger one-on-one encounter. In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated’s “Undisputed,” Alexander revealed that his ultimate dream match is a singles bout against former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega. Alexander and Omega will be on opposite sides of the ring in tonight’s main event, and the former TNA World Champion is hoping that this encounter will be the first step towards making his dream a reality. Alexander spoke with immense respect for Omega, acknowledging his status as one of the best in the world and the benchmark he is striving to reach.
When asked about his goals, Alexander made it clear who is at the top of his list.
“Kenny Omega is number one on my bucket list, and he has been for the past decade. I’ve looked up to him for so long, and I have so much respect for him. He earned that top spot. That’s what I’m vying for. I’ll get to step in the ring with him on Dynamite, and hopefully that snowballs into something even more. That’s my dream match.”
He also spoke about his pride in representing Canada and his ambition to compete at the upcoming AEW All Out pay-per-view in Toronto.
“I am very proud to be a Canadian wrestler. I wasn’t trained in the Dungeon, but I was trained by someone who was [Johnny Devine]. Tony Khan allows the opportunity to work for Maple Leaf, and I’m grateful for that. I know the history of Canadian wrestling, and I want to carry it forward. To wrestle at ScotiaBank Arena would be something I’d never forget, but I’m focusing on controlling what I can control, and that goes back to putting in the work every day.”
