All Elite Wrestling is reportedly planning a return to the historic Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City for another multi-show residency later this year. According to a new report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company is expected to hold a series of events at the venue this coming December. This would mark a return to the successful residency model that AEW utilized in the same venue in 2024, a move that proved to be both a critical and financial success for the promotion. The Hammerstein Ballroom is one of the most iconic venues in the history of professional wrestling, and a return for a multi-week run of television tapings and special events would be a major happening for the New York market.
The original residency at the Hammerstein was noted for its unique financial structure. Despite having a smaller attendance of under 1,500 fans for each show, the ticket prices were significantly higher than for a typical AEW television taping. This resulted in larger live gates than some events that had over 3,000 in attendance. Additionally, by staying in one venue for an extended period, the company saved a reported six figures on production and moving costs for each event. The combination of strong ticket revenue and reduced expenses made the residency a profitable venture. A return to this model in one of the company’s strongest markets suggests that AEW is looking to replicate that success as they close out the 2025 calendar year.
