Former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland has revealed the one item he cannot travel without, and it might not be what you’d expect from a top professional wrestler. In a new video for Complex’s “Sports X-Ray” series, the leader of the Mogul Embassy named his PlayStation 5 as the single most important item he carries with him on the road. For a wrestler who is constantly traveling, dealing with flight delays, and spending countless hours in hotel rooms, Strickland explained that his gaming console is not just a form of entertainment, but an essential tool for maintaining his mental sanity and staying out of trouble. His comments provide a fun and relatable glimpse into the off-screen life of a top-tier athlete.
Strickland explained in detail why his PS5 is such a crucial part of his travel routine.
“So right here, I’m unveiling the most important travel item for not just myself, Swerve Strickland, but for any wrestler on the road. You get flight delays, expect to be boarding by 30 minutes, now it’s gonna be three hours. This right here is gonna save you, not just time, but mentally as well. PlayStation 5, everybody. Everybody’s laughing on set, I hear you. Hear me out, listen to me. This will save marriages and relationships, will keep you inside your hotel room and not outside causing trouble, because it’s very easy to get into a lot of trouble these days, especially as a professional wrestler. A lot of people want to try you on the road.”
He also shared what games he is currently playing and how the console helps him stay connected with people back home.
“So games I’m playing online right now, Madden franchise mode is where we get it in. I’ve been on the Tony Hawk remasters lately. Looking forward to the GTA 6 coming out… This is a good way to stay connected with your friends, your family, your fan base, no matter where you go on the road and you can have a good time either yelling at them or laughing is how I keep my sanity on the road.”
