WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray has weighed in on the current state of the Don Callis Family in AEW, echoing recent sentiments from Konnan that the faction has become too large. The group has seen a massive expansion in 2025, adding several top-tier stars to its ranks. While the faction boasts an impressive collection of talent, Bully believes that its size is a detriment and that Don Callis would be more effective on television if he were managing a smaller, more focused unit. The critique suggests that the impact of the group is being diluted by the sheer number of members, preventing individual stars from getting the spotlight they need to shine.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, the veteran performer and analyst explained his perspective, highlighting which members he feels are truly benefiting from their association with Callis.
“I can tell you who [the heat] is definitely benefiting. That’s the kid that came out and interrupted Hangman, and that’s Kyle Fletcher. When Fletcher got on the stick, the people were all over him tonight, so I was like, alright, this is really good because Fletcher is generating his own boos, which got me thinking again. Later in the show, we saw Kyle Fletcher, Don Callis and Tony Schiavone outside of the arena, so I got to thinking maybe they’re better off with just having Callis with Fletcher. I don’t think Josh Alexander is really benefiting from being a part of the family … Lance Archer, I don’t know if it’s really doing anything for him.”
He did, however, see the value in keeping one other member alongside Fletcher as part of a more streamlined version of the group.
“Maybe they keep Takeshita and Fletcher, because I think there’s a hell of a future for Takeshita.”
