MJF made another surprise appearance in Major League Wrestling at the company’s Fightland event on September 13 in North Richland Hills, Texas. This time, instead of attacking a rival, he had a tense backstage confrontation with his former stablemate from The Dynasty, Alex Hammerstone. The segment saw MJF give a tough-love speech to the former MLW World Heavyweight Champion, who has been in a career slump. The interaction was a powerful character moment for both men, referencing their shared history and their vastly different career trajectories over the past six years since The Dynasty was on top of MLW. MJF, who is known for his arrogant and selfish persona, showed a different side by attempting to motivate his old friend.
During the backstage encounter, MJF addressed Hammerstone’s recent struggles.
MJF said that six years ago, the Dynasty was on top of pro wrestling, and now six years later, he’s still on top, but Hammerstone has become a court jester. MJF said that Hammerstone is the best big man in pro wrestling, but he walks around like he’s not that guy. Maxwell Jacob Friedman said he saw the hatred in Hammerstone’s eye, and that’s the Hammerstone that wrestling needs.
Hammerstone was receptive to the harsh words.
Hammerstone said he sees the talk of people wanting The Dynasty back together, but the Dynasty is over. He says he’s struggled while MJF has climbed. “What if my best days are behind me?” He said he hates that feeling, and now maybe it’s time that he fully hates pro wrestling. Hammerstone concluded that MJF is right and that his best days are in front of him.
The segment ended with the two former partners sharing a toast.
