A new report from Fightful has clarified the contract status of AEW and ROH star Claudio Castagnoli. The former ROH World Champion’s future was the subject of some fan speculation after he missed the recent AEW Grand Slam Mexico show. With his arrival in the company having taken place just over three years ago, a common length for an initial contract, some fans wondered if his deal was set to expire. However, the report indicates that the Blackpool Combat Club member is not going anywhere anytime soon and remains a key part of Tony Khan’s plans for the future.
According to the report, sources within AEW have confirmed that Castagnoli still has a “substantial amount of time left” on his current contract with the company. The report adds that AEW President Tony Khan has made it clear that he wants the Swiss star to be with the promotion for a “long time.” Castagnoli has been a heavily featured performer in both AEW and Ring of Honor since his debut at the Forbidden Door pay-per-view in 2022. He is a multi-time ROH World Champion and a former ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion. He is currently a cornerstone of the dominant Death Riders faction alongside his Blackpool Combat Club stablemates, Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta. This report should put an end to any rumors regarding his potential departure from the company.
