TNA star and former World Champion Eric Young recently reflected on his time on the WWE main roster, revealing that he stopped pitching creative ideas after one of his concepts was given to another superstar. Young, who had a successful run in NXT as the leader of the chaotic SAnitY faction, was called up to the main roster in 2019, but the group was quickly disbanded, leaving him without a clear creative direction. His experience highlights the frustrations that many talented performers can face when trying to navigate the complex creative process of a major wrestling promotion.
Speaking on the “Developmentally Speaking” podcast, the veteran performer explained the situation that led him to stop contributing his own ideas.
“I had pitched some really cool ideas, they ended up stealing one of them and using them for other people. I’m not going to get into that, that made me stop pitching ideas because if they’re just going to take them and give them to other people, there’s no sense of me wasting my breath.”
Young was eventually released from his WWE contract in April of 2020 as part of the company’s pandemic-era budget cuts. He made his return to TNA Wrestling at the Slammiversary pay-per-view later that same year and has been a cornerstone of the promotion ever since, capturing the TNA World Championship for a second time and solidifying his legacy as one of the company’s most important stars.
