Kyle Fletcher On WWE Counter-Programming: “It Puts A Chip On My Shoulder”

AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has shared his thoughts on WWE’s recent strategy of running its premium live events on the same day as major AEW pay-per-views. The trend of counter-programming has become a major topic of discussion in 2025, and the next instance is this Saturday, September 20, when AEW All Out will air in the afternoon, followed by WWE’s WrestlePalooza event in the evening. The competitive scheduling has created a “wrestling war” atmosphere, and for a rising star like Fletcher, it serves as a powerful source of motivation to deliver the best possible performance.

Speaking to Good Karma Wrestling, the “Protostar” stated that he understands the business practice but uses it as fuel to prove that AEW is the superior product.

“Man, I think it’s good business practice from the other team. I think they’re trying to squash us. But, for me, it puts a chip on my shoulder. I know that this Saturday, we have competition and my goal is to go out there and have one of the greatest professional wrestling matches of all time, so that people go, oh, nothing comes even close to that, nothing comes close to AEW pay-per-views, so, yeah, that’s all it is. It lights a fire under me. All I wanna do is go out there and do the best that I absolutely can so I can squish the other guys, you know what I mean?”

Fletcher is set for the biggest match of his career at AEW All Out this Saturday, where he will challenge “Hangman” Adam Page for the AEW World Championship.
