AEW President Tony Khan addressed a subtle but significant change in how the AEW World Championship has been presented since “Hangman” Adam Page won the championship. At the post-All Out media scrum, Khan was asked about Page referring to the championship as the “AEW Men’s World Championship” and whether the company plans to officially change the name. The discussion highlights a modern approach to inclusivity in sports and entertainment, and Khan made it clear that he fully supports his champion’s perspective on the matter. The move to specify the championship as a men’s title is a progressive step that acknowledges the distinct and equally important divisions within the company.
Khan explained that the idea came from Page himself and that he is happy to support his champion’s vision for how the championship should be presented.
“It’s gotten great traction, it’s something to consider. For the official record keeping, it’s as it has been, but for Hangman, for his graphics, for describing what it is, that’s something that is important to him and if that’s something that he believes in, and that’s his authentic self and that’s how he wants the title presented, that’s something I support and believe in. I think it works great both ways so it’s a great question but definitely with Hangman as the World Champion, he asked me about that, with Hangman Page for the foreseeable future is the World Champion, no end in sight, it is the Men’s World Championship right now.”
While the official records may not change, Khan’s comments indicate that for as long as “Hangman” Adam Page is the champion, the top prize in the company will be known as the AEW Men’s World Championship.
