A new report from Fightful Select has provided a significant update on All Elite Wrestling’s media rights situation, revealing that the company is reportedly no longer exclusive to Warner Bros. Discovery for its television and streaming content. This is a major development that could open the door for AEW to negotiate with other media partners, potentially leading to new deals and expanded distribution for its programming. The news comes amidst reports that Paramount and Skydance are expressing interest in acquiring Warner Bros. Discovery, a situation that has raised questions about the future of AEW’s relationship with its current broadcast partner.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, sources have confirmed that AEW’s exclusivity clause with WBD, which was part of their previous deal when AEW Collision was added, is no longer in effect.
“Yes, they can. They do not have exclusivity with WBD any longer. They had that as a result of their last deal. Whenever they added Collision, they had exclusivity. They don’t now. So they can talk to other partners…”
The report also noted that AEW is proactively planning ahead in case there are major changes at Warner Bros. Discovery, or if they choose to explore other options.
“They can even say, they could hypothetically say, ‘Here’s another show we’re shopping in the event that so-and-so happens. Like if they had to do Dynamite on YouTube, for the love of God, they would still do it.”
This non-exclusive status gives AEW much more flexibility in the evolving media landscape and could be a major factor in their future growth and strategy.
