Darby Allin has issued a major challenge to his blood rival, Jon Moxley, for an “I Quit” match at the upcoming AEW WrestleDream pay-per-view. The dramatic challenge was made by Allin, armed with a flamethrower, at the close of the September 24 episode of AEW Dynamite, setting the stage for a brutal and definitive conclusion to their violent and personal feud. While Moxley did not immediately accept the challenge, the image of Allin with the flamethrower and his impassioned plea for a final, no-holds-barred encounter ensures that this will be one of the most anticipated matches for the October 18 event in St. Louis, Missouri.
Allin’s appearance came after a segment earlier in the show where AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander turned down an invitation to join The Death Riders, clotheslining Wheeler Yuta and escaping a potential beatdown. Allin then ran off the Death Riders with the flamethrower before issuing his challenge to Moxley. This is the latest escalation in a feud that has been defined by extreme violence, personal attacks, and shocking moments. The two men are coming off a brutal and bloody Coffin Match at this past Saturday’s All Out pay-per-view, which Moxley won thanks to the return of PAC. Despite the loss, Allin is clearly not finished with Moxley and is determined to make him say “I Quit.”
This potential match, once confirmed, will be the first bout officially made for the WrestleDream pay-per-view. Allin has never competed in an “I Quit” match in AEW, while Moxley has two in his career, his last being against Eddie Kingston at Full Gear 2020. The match is expected to be a major part of the build to WrestleDream and will undoubtedly add another layer of violence to the storied rivalry between the two top stars.
