A new report from PWInsider Elite has revealed the real-life reason for Adam Copeland’s on-screen departure from All Elite Wrestling. On the September 24 episode of AEW Dynamite, Copeland announced in an emotional promo that he “has to go” and was unsure if he would be back, a storyline decision stemming from the brutal post-match attack on his wife, Beth Copeland, at the All Out pay-per-view. The promo led to some fan speculation that Copeland might be heading back to WWE for a one-off match as part of John Cena’s retirement tour, but the new report has confirmed that is not the case.
According to the report, Adam Copeland was written off of AEW television because he is currently filming the upcoming new season of the popular Disney+ series, “Percy Jackson and the Olympians.” Copeland portrays the role of Ares, the God of War, in the hit show. Filming for the third season of the series reportedly began last month, which required him to take a sabbatical from his wrestling commitments. The second season of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is scheduled to debut on the Disney+ streaming service on December 10, with the third season featuring Copeland set to be released at a later date. His successful acting career has become an increasingly important part of his schedule, and this hiatus will allow him to focus on his major television role.
